After being called to the Bar in 2007, Martin worked in Ottawa as an associate for both Sean Jones and Richard Bowles from 2009 to 2015. He transitioned to his own practice in 2016 and currently works in association with Richard Bowles and Sarah Kennedy.
Martin has worked primarily in the area of Family Law; however, due to the demand, he has recently undertaken an increasing number of Estates matters.
Working both in the role of litigator and negotiator, Martin has gained significant trial/arbitration experience during which he has come to understand the need to consider the costs and benefits of litigation. His experience has also provided him with the knowledge and understanding of both the mechanics and details of enforcing property and costs orders.
In his previous life, Martin worked as a stage and production manager in Toronto for such companies as Young People’s Theatre and The Toronto International Film festival, as well as in Alberta for The Banff Arts Centre. He still enjoys the odd performance, but when not working, tends to find himself increasingly interested in cooking and blending his own spice mixes.
